During the 2016 General Election, I sought the endorsement of every political leader in our community. I knew that one of the most important aspects of a School Board Member was the ability to work with other local leaders. So many of the issues for the School Board Members, are also issues in the community.

JEA Endorsement.png

I am excited to be endorsed by the Jordan Education Association (JEA). JEA is the Association that represents our teachers. I believe this is one of the greatest honors a school board member can have is to be endorsed by our teachers. I LOVE our teachers, and I have worked hard to represent them. A working partnership with the association is one of the most important relationships you can have as a school board representative. I have worked hard for our teachers, but I am not done. I hope to have 4 more years to continue to restore the role of the teacher in our society. I am grateful that I have dedicated my life to teaching and I hope WE can work together inspire many of our youth to become teachers!

I will be voting for Darrell. I have been very impressed the last 4 years. He is the most transparent and involved political figure I have ever witnessed. I have seen first hand how he fights for our children. When Herriman had a suicide epidemic a few years ago, Darrell helped compose a group of individuals in the community to think of out of the box ways to help. He showed up to every meeting, and every community outreach event. This was not part of his duties as a Board Member, but something he did simply because he is a leader and cares about the children. I have been very impressed with the way Jordan School District has increased its support of mental health services, and Darrell has been a large part of that. I also appreciate the fact that he understands that not all students learn the same, and has pushed for creative ways to diversify the learning process. I can think of no one I would rather have in this position, especially during the uncertainty of the COVID pandemic. Darrell has shown an abundance of understanding, transparency, communication with the community, and compassion. All this in addition to his educational background. Darrell easily wins my vote this election, and I can only hope he stays in this position as long as possible ( at least until my own children graduate). — Kody Crowell

I appreciate all the work you put in to our school district. It is nice for a change to get updates and hear from a school board member. You are a breath of fresh air. — Sharman Holloway

Darrell has been a pretty amazing board member. I emailed him about my concerns and when it came to voicing my concern, he was the only board member that spoke up.. he is open and honest. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a board member open up to the community the way he has.. he’s always willing to help and listen. He’s a valuable asset to the board.. - Lori Taylor

Keep up the good. Full transparency (even if negative) is better than semi-transparency. You are human, have your own thought processes, have values, you care and if you makes decisions based on good moral and ethical values that you already own you’ll (hopefully) continue to be our representative. -Erik McEwen

“No one works harder for the children of the Jordan School District than Darrell Robinson. In this critical time of revenue reductions and resulting budget cuts, those with previous experience will serve the citizens best.” George Welch (retired Jordan School District Administrator)

I was expecting to see your name on my ballot? Is the Jordan School board not a current race? I live in Riverton on the Herriman boarder and my child goes to Athlos. I am looking forward to your ideas and research about having options for a standard 8-330 school schedule and have been impressed with how you have handled the last year. You are approachable, transparent and my teacher friends all think you are the best for them. — Sara Johnston

I endorse Darrell Robinson for the Jordan School District School board because of his tireless efforts. He tries to properly represent the people who elected him. He is working as hard as possible, every single day. He constantly is willing to talk on the phone, visit you in person, or address concerns on Facebook. I have never seen a politician be as involved as he is. Great work, Darrell!  -Dani Sorensen

Darrell is driven in getting things done in the best interest of the children in our community. He listens to the community and fights for what he feels is best. - Laura da Silva

Darrell is not my representative, but has always taken the time to listen and respond to my questions and concerns. We haven't always agreed but the conversation has always stayed civil. He has always tried to be transparent and let us know the why of his decisions. No other board member has done this. He wants what is best for the students and strives to make our school district the best it can be. You often hear a vote for so and so is a vote for more of the same. In this case it is a vote for transparency, open conversation and someone who is willing to put in the hours necessary to make our schools better. - Marriette Barton

I have never met anyone who cares more for, and works harder on behalf of our children. He is completely transparent in his communication. He cares and values the insight and opinions of those he represents while maintaining a high degree of honesty and integrity. He is forward thinking and is exactly what our school district board needs! -Spencer Carver

- Alex Boye endorses Darrell Robinson for re-election of the Jordan School Board. Darrell worked with Alex on two projects that helped our students in crises. “Bend Not Break” and “2020 Forever” were filmed with the Herriman/Riverton Community

Usually you only hear from the school board members around the election time, and then they quietly make decisions without any input or communication. This is quite opposite of how Darrell conducts business! Since he had been elected, I have the opportunity to be part of the process! He spends countless hours trying to engage everyone, and understand every side of every single decision. He is willing to listen, and tries to always do what is best for our children! He is very open and honest while making even the toughest choices! I have never felt so involved with the school board! He has brought accountability to the job, and involvement to the community! So very impressed with the job he has done, and looking forward to him continuing! - Nancy Knowlton

He is transparent as can be, and works over time for our kids. I will definitely be voting for him again. -Melissa Falkner

Darrell is always willing to go the extra mile. He genuinely cares and concern for our children and their learning experiences. I have personally reached out to him regarding questions/concerns with my child’s schools and he has offered wonderful insight and stepped in when needed. He even followed up after the fact to make sure I was satisfied with how things went and to make sure it was resolved with the best option for my child. He is always there. He is always open and honest and does the best he can. Thank you Darrell! - Carrie Ann Hammer

I may not always agree with everything Darrell says, and I may not like every answer he gives me, but he takes the time to address everyone’s questions and concerns, with integrity and transparency. I know that he’s always looking out for students, teachers, and parents within the JSD, and the community. - Mandy Dalton

Darrell is an outstanding board member for Jordan school district. I have been so impressed by how transparent he is. It is very impressive how hard he works to listen to concerns, hear them, and researches to find answers. He has been very dedicated to problem solving and conflict resolution in our school community. Overall he has given a new definition to what being on the school board, and representing this community looks like. I don’t think I’ll be satisfied with anything less now, I can’t see anyone giving as much time and commitment, and being as socially present as he has. I’m so grateful he has given us this gift. - Eliza Francom

I have known Darrell for almost 40 years, and he is a man of integrity. He is a hard worker, and has worked tirelessly for our students during his term on the JS board. If we want what is best for our kids, teachers, and JS district employees, I'd say keep Darrell on the job, and let us get out of his way. He's uniquely suited for this job, and he has already demonstrated that he is excellent at it. - Paul Pehrson

When an elected representative chooses to seek public input, explain his decision making, and inform the district about the happenings in the Board room he does so at great risk. Most try to stay out of the public eye, but not Darrell Robinson. It has been my blessing to learn from Darrell, to ask him tough questions, and occasionally disagree. His forthcoming attitude is an illustrator of the way he approaches his position on the Board. Darrell is there to serve the people, to tell the truth and to stretch our thinking. He doesn't pandor, and most of us wonder if he ever sleeps as he seems ever available and ready to go the extra mile for our schools. He defines the term public servant and I am proud to endorse him! - Niki George

We just moved to the district last year and the first thing when moving to a new area you ask what are the best schools what are they like. Darrell was there to answer all my questions not only that, he accepted my feedback as I have served on the board at a Salt Lake Charter School. He was on social media walking all of us parents through the pandemic he sympathized with us at the hardship it was on some of the parents like myself who was working 60 hours a week during the pandemic. I can't imagine having anyone else that would put not only our children but us as the parents needs first. - Elishia Barajas

I don’t have any great story but I love how active and outside the box you are. -Levi Park

We have always appreciated Darrell’s transparency and responsiveness. He explores outside the box solutions to problems and is always looking for ways to give our students opportunities for success. - Marinda and Mike Wessman

I am grateful for the endorsement from the group, “Utah For Responsible Growth.” This is a group that I have worked hard to support. I share their concerns on uncontrolled growth. Responsible Growth is critical in establishing a good school system. Thanks for those who share this vision.

Darrell Robinson has helped my family more than once. It first started with the boundary realignment for Herriman High school. My daughter was a sophomore and on the dance team. She was so concerned about having to switch schools and possibly dance teams. We took our concern to Darrell. He is always willing to listen and hear the situation from our point of view. He listens to all sides of a situation. We always appreciated his feedback, honesty and realistic answers.
The second situation we worked with Darrell on was the bus route for South Hills Middle. Our family was re-routed from Fort Herriman to South Hills. This was a big concern for our family as the kids would now have to walk down 13400 s and cross Mountain View Corridor. Anyone who knows this street knows it is a main thoroughfare in the mornings. We were concerned about the speed, no barriers, as well as all the high school and rush hour traffic that could put these children at risk while walking to and from school. Darrell took this safety concern serious. He walked the distance during the time they would be going to school and videoed it. He then showed all how dangerous it would be for those students to walk. Because of Darrell and his efforts we were able to secure bus routes.
The third topic Darrell helped our family was online school option for 2020-2021.We have two high risk individuals in our home. I approached Darrell with my concern via email and who took my concern to the superintendent. He let my voice specifically be heard. I realize this is not the best option for most families, but for ours it is a must. I am so appreciative that Darrell was willing to listen and allow my voice to be heard so my family can have the lowest risk possible due to our current pandemic situation. If you want your voice to be heard, If you want someone who takes the time to be involved in your school and community, then you want Darrell as your Jordan District Board Representative. — Heidi Wilson
