Darrell has served as a County and State Delegate for the Republican Party. He hold strong republican values especially on education views. 

Volunteer and Non Profit Organizations

Utah Lacrosse Association(ULA)                                                                       2002-2011              Executive Board Member and Past President of Utah Lacrosse Association.

For almost a decade, I served on the Utah Lacrosse Association (ULA) Board. During my time with the ULA, player participation grew from 500 players to thousands that play lacrosse in Utah today.  We grew from being an unknown sport to many, to having teams in 75% of our high schools, and qualified to become a sanctioned sport by the Utah High School Activities Association.   I oversaw the day-to-day operations of this sport, including working with a board and running the budget. I am proud to say, the cost to play lacrosse, never increased in my administration.

I started coaching girls lacrosse at Bingham High School as the JV coach taking two JV teams to a record of 23 wins and 1 lost. Later, I organized and coached the very first Girls Junior teams at Bingham. In our first year, we had three excellent teams. These Girls went on to win the State Championship in High School. 

When Herriman High School opened, I helped organize and became the first Head Coach of the Herriman Girls Lacrosse Program. In our first year, we had not only a varsity, but a VJ team also. We also organized the youth program which at that point had never been done in a teams first year. In one year, we recruited over 120 girls to play for Herriman Girls Lacrosse. The program continues to be a solid program today. 

For over 10 years, I have been a Lacrosse Official, referring at every level. As an official, I was always interested in helping others understand the game. Most time outs, I spend on the parents side of the field, answering questions about the game of lacrosse. 

Utah Valley University Lacrosse                                                                    2011 - 2015

Director of Lacrosse Operations 

During my time with Utah Valley University we created a Women’s Lacrosse Program. We have had successful seasons in the Rocky Mountain Women’s Lacrosse League. During our first year, we were nationally ranked and earned a spot in post season play. 

Mitchell’s Journey Foundation                                                                       2013 - Present  

Volunteer

Mitchell’s Journey is a non-profit foundation combating Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Our purpose is to raise awareness of DMD and to help families that are suffering from this illness. Mitchell Jones, was a young boy, attending Butterfield Canyon Elementary when he lost his life to DMD.
